Cross-role and web and mobile tests

Verify that a record created by one user reaches another role or app.

A cross-surface test follows one piece of data between people or apps. For example, a customer creates a request in a mobile app and an administrator checks it on the website.

Prepare the participants

Use a staging environment with disposable records. Save appropriate logins for each role, and scan the website or app as those users before building the test. A scan performed as an administrator does not establish which paths a customer can reach.

Build the journey

  1. Open your project and choose Cross-surface test from the workspace actions.
  2. Name the test, such as Customer request reaches the admin.
  3. Add at least two people and give each a role name.
  4. For each person, select On a website or On a phone app and provide the target URL or app build.
  5. Supply that participant's test login and any workflow notes.
  6. Mark exactly one participant as Adds the data. The others Check it.
  7. If prompted, scan a participant's target to map its paths.
  8. Generate the journey, then open the resulting suite in Tests.

Review the generated steps and assertions before running them. Check that the same identifying record value is created and later read, rather than accepting a generic success message as proof of synchronization.

Read the result

Inspect each participant's steps in Runs and the Web and app together view. A create action can succeed while another user cannot find the record; those are different outcomes.

Keep account permissions, environment, and backend data consistent across surfaces. Feature availability follows your plan. See Persistence checks for the distinction between accepting an action and verifying its saved data.
